dc.description.abstractEn el presente trabajo se evaluó el vástago de plátano dominico-Hartón como material adsorbente para la remoción de Hg2+ presente en soluciones acuosas, para lo cual se realizaron ensayos de adsorción en modo discontinuo (Batch). Empleando un diseño experimental de tipo central compuesto, se analizó el efecto de las variables; pH y concentración de sustrato (Hg2+) sobre la capacidad de adsorción y concentración remanente de Hg2+ en solución. Haciendo uso de la metodología de superficie de respuesta, se determinaron las condiciones más favorables para la biosorción, que para el estudio efectuado correspondieron a una concentración inicial de mercurio de 50 mg L-1 y pH 6. El equilibrio del proceso fue analizado por medio de los modelos de isoterma de Freundlich y de Langmuir, siendo el modelo de Langmuir el que represento adecuadamente el equilibrio de la biosorción estudia, para el cual la capacidad de adsorción en equilibrio presento un valor de 11.77 mg g-1. El análisis de la tendencia cinética dio como resultado que el proceso es descrito adecuadamente por el modelo cinético de pseudo segundo orden, para el cual el coeficiente cinético K2 presento un valor de 0.0039 g mg-1 min-1, con un coeficiente de correlación 0.9908, para los resultados experimentales.spa
