dc.description.abstractObjetivo: Caracterizar a los pacientes que ingresan a Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Pediátricos (UCIP) por Neutropenia Febril, en la Clínica Prevenir de la ciudad de Barranquilla, periodo 2015 – 2016. Materiales y Métodos: Estudio descriptivo y retrospectivo en una muestra por conveniencia de 50 pacientes con diagnóstico de neutropenia febril que requirieron ingreso a UCIP. La tabulación de la información se realizó en programa Epi-Info 7.0; los resultados incluyen métodos estadísticos descriptivos. Resultados: El sexo masculino mostró la mayor frecuencia con un 62%, edad media de 7,9 ± 3,1 años, la Leucemia Linfoblástica Aguda, fue la neoplasia mas frecuente en pacientes con episodios de neutropenia febril ingresados a la UCIP con un 46%, le sigue en frecuencia la Leucemia Mieloide Aguda con un 14%; el 60% de los pacientes presentó neutropenia grave. Conclusiones: El comportamiento de la población que demanda atención en la UCIP es similar a la descrita en la literatura en términos de sexo, edad, tipo de neoplasia, severidad de neutropenia, niveles de hemoglobina y plaquetas, e identificación de focos infecciosos.spa

dc.description.abstractenglishObjective: To characterize patients entering the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for Febrile Neutropenia, at the Clínica Prevenir of the city of Barranquilla, period 2015 - 2016. Materials and methods: Descriptive and retrospective study in a convenience sample of 50 patients diagnosed with febrile neutropenia who required admission to PICU. The information was tabulated in Epi-Info 7.0 program, the results include descriptive statistical methods. Results: Male showed the highest rate with 62%, mean age of 7,9 ± 3,1 years, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia was the most frequent neoplasm in patients with episodes of febrile neutropenia admitted to the PICU with 46%, followed by acute myeloid leukemia with 14%; 60% of patients had severe neutropenia. Conclusions: The behavior of the population that requires attention in the PICU is similar to that described in the literature in terms of sex, age, type of neoplasia, severity of neutropenia, hemoglobin and platelet levels, and identification of infectious focus.eng
